Mind Map: Black Lives Matter
I will never wholly understand the trials and hardships of the BIPOC community, but I can try my best to support them through self-educating and practice. I remember first hearing about Black Lives Matter in 2015. Since I was in Baltimore during the riots, I had an ignorant viewpoint in only seeing the anarchy around the chant of “Black Lives Matter” and not the pleas for justice.
Below is a mind map that I have created based on research on having discussions (sometimes uncomfortable or enraging) surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement. It is not exhaustive, but I try to take a singular topic and provide as much associated fact-based information as possible. I need to highlight the “fact-based” part here because, in previous conversations, I tend to get a lot of anecdotal rebuttals. Please check your sources! This mind map includes information from articles I’ve pulled and reviewed the sources, but just because I say that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t verify it.
